At Love Campers we are passionate about accessibility and inclusion. We believe that beautiful accessible campervan experiences, and access to nature, should be for everyone.
What’s more, we believe in valuing everyone equally, doing our part to celebrate difference and support people’s abilities rather than defining anyone by a so-called “disability.” If one of our campervans won’t work for you for any reason, we will do our very best to tweak it, or even come up with a whole new design that works for you. We want everyone to have the chance to enjoy a Love Campers campervan.
You may be wondering: where are the accessible campervans on our website? The answer is that they are everywhere! We don’t believe that people with accessibility requirements should be singled out, given reduced options, or excluded from having the same beautiful Love Campers campervans that are generally available. We also recognise that everyone is unique and has different requirements, so we will work with you to identify the adaptations that you may need.
Creating campers for everyone
Many of our accessibility hacks are easily integrated into our standard designs. Our philosophy is that whilst not all of our designs will work for everyone, our accessible campervans should not look or feel fundamentally different to any of our other campervans.
And we believe in all of our customers’ right to have control over the way their campervan looks and feels. Accessible and adapted campervans can be as atmospheric, cosy, personal and beautiful as any of the stunning campervans we build. We don’t believe in medicalising disability, and there will never be a compromise on style with a Love Campers campervan.
Probably every one of our van designs has received an adaptation for a customer at some time or another, with some kind of accessibility requirement.
Wheelchair accessible & adapted Campers
Some of the design adaptations we have made for our customers include:
- Grab rails for mobility assistance around a van interior
- An electric wheelchair ramp
- Tethering points for a wheelchair
- Storage space for a mobility scooter in a rear garage
- Extra steps
- A large fridge and off-grid solar power system for storing medications at the correct temperature at all times
- Extra insulation and sound-deadening
- Extra black-out capabilities
- A small van with a flushing toilet cubicle in the back, accessible at all times, with grab rails
Accessible Campervan Designs
All of the photographed van designs throughout this post can be tweaked to enhance accessibility, and we can carry out camper adaptations on any vehicle you choose, including the larger Fiat Ducato and Citroen Relay or smaller vans such as the Nissan NV300 or VW Caddy range.
We’d love to help you to create a campervan that works for you. Get in touch and let us know what you require and we’ll do our very best to help.
